How do I make an appointment at De Kinderartsenpraktijk?

Your primary care physician will submit your referral electronically. You don’t need to do anything. We’ll contact you by phone within 48 hours. If you received a paper referral letter from your primary care physician, please let us know. We’ll then send you a secure email address to which you can forward the referral letter.

No. We only provide covered care. A referral letter is always required for this. Please contact your primary care physician or pediatrician. They will determine whether a referral is necessary.

The Pediatric Practice provides specialized care for children, just like in a hospital. You always need a referral from your family doctor to receive this care. Without a referral, your health insurer will not cover the costs. Your family doctor treats your child’s general health issues. Your child’s growth and development are monitored by the GGD’s pediatric public health nurse. The pediatric practice maintains close communication with both the family doctor and the pediatric public health nurse. This allows us to work together effectively and consult quickly when necessary.

No. The pediatric practice does not administer vaccinations to children. Please contact your local GGD for this. Click here for more information about vaccinations for children.

For older children, please bring their passport or ID card. If your young child does not yet have an ID, please bring their registration from the municipality or their health insurance card.

No. With a referral letter, healthcare for children is always covered under the basic plan. This means there is no deductible for children, and all healthcare costs are fully reimbursed.

With a referral from your family doctor or pediatrician, all care provided by the pediatrician is covered under the basic health insurance plan. There is no deductible for children, and you do not pay a copayment.

Is your child still receiving treatment from us after turning 18? If so, the deductible does apply.

If you miss an appointment without giving advance notice, you will be responsible for the associated costs.

All care provided by De Kinderartsenpraktijk is covered. There is no deductible and no copayment for children. Just like at the hospital, care for your child is therefore free of charge.

Since we don’t yet have contracts with all health insurers, the payment process is sometimes slightly different. You can read exactly how this works here.

Since we do not yet have contracts with all health insurers, the payment process is sometimes slightly different. In such cases, some insurers do not reimburse the full amount. Since we do not want to discriminate between children, De Kinderartsenpraktijk covers these costs.
This means you only pay the portion that your health insurer reimburses you.

The codes on the bill are required. Your health insurance provider needs them to process your claim. You can find more information about the bill and how it is structured here.

The bill is generated through a nationwide system. This system tracks the number of consultations that have taken place within a single course of treatment. We have no control over this.

The first course of treatment is automatically closed after 90 days. After that, a new course of treatment is closed every 120 days.
As a result, you may receive a bill months after your last appointment at De Kinderartsenpraktijk.

The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZA) sets the rates for the various types of consultations, such as in-person, video call, and telephone appointments. These rates are average amounts for a Diagnosis-Treatment Combination (DBC). This means that costs per patient may vary: sometimes the bill does not cover all costs, and sometimes it does.

The NZa has established rules that a consultation must meet in order to be billable. No distinction is made between an in-person appointment and a telephone consultation.
De Kinderartsenpraktijk naturally adheres to these rules. Our rates are the same as those of a hospital.

At De Kinderartsenpraktijk, you only pay the amount that your health insurance provider has reimbursed you.

You can email us using the contact form or call us and leave a message on our voicemail. Be sure to include your child’s name and the name of the medication. You can pick it up at your pharmacy 48 hours later (on business days).

Pediatricians can request an authorization for a specific period of time. They are limited in how much they can prescribe per period. If you’ve used more than that, they cannot refill it. This often involves expensive formula for which insurers have set a reimbursement limit. You’ll therefore have to purchase the extra amount yourself at a local drugstore or pharmacy.

Based on the medical assessment, the period may be extended. At the end of that period, an appointment will be scheduled with the pediatrician. If necessary, the authorization will be extended in a timely manner. If you have any additional questions, you can email us using the contact form or call us and leave a message on voicemail. Please be sure to include your child’s name.
