You always need a referral from your family doctor to receive this care. Without a referral, your health insurer will not cover the costs. Your family doctor treats your child\u2019s general health issues. Your child\u2019s growth and development are monitored by the GGD\u2019s pediatric public health nurse. The pediatric practice maintains close communication with both the family doctor and the pediatric public health nurse.
