If you have a referral letter from your general practitioner (huisarts) or youth healthcare physician (jeugdarts), then the healthcare provided by the pediatrician is always covered under the basic health insurance plan. There is no co-pay or deductible for children, so all costs of your visit are completely reimbursed.

If you have a referral letter from your general practitioner (huisarts) or youth healthcare doctor (jeugdarts), then the care provided by the pediatrician is always covered under your basic insurance. For children, there is no deductible or co-pay required.
You can find more information about how payments and reimbursements work here.

The Pediatric Practice doesn’t yet have contracts with the various health insurance companies. The percentage of the invoice that is reimbursed is stated in the terms and conditions of your specific health insurance policy. The Pediatric Practice believes that all children should be able to take advantage of the healthcare we provide, so we only charge you the amount that your insurance company reimburses. There are thus no extra costs associated with the care that we provide.

Not all health insurers give independent practices like ours the capability to directly submit invoices. You can read how this works here with your health insurer. Submitting an invoice works similarly to how it works by your dentist. This is often simply via an app or by mail.

The codes on the invoice are required codes that the health insurer needs in order to process reimbursements. You can find more information (in Dutch) about how this works here.

Pediatric care is covered under the basic healthcare insurance and is always (at least partially) reimbursed if you have a referral letter from your general pracitioner or youth health care physician. If this isn’t the case, check carefully for the reason the invoice has been rejected. The health insurer always provides a reason why an invoice is not reimbursed. Can’t figure it out? Contact us. We are happy to help you.

The invoice is created using a national invoicing system and depends on how many consults there are within a course of treatment. The first course of treatment is closed after 90 days. Thereafter, the treatment courses are closed every 120 days. It is thus possible that you receive an invoice months after your last treatment at The Pediatric Practice.

The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa-in Dutch) sets the fees for the various types of consultations (face-to-face, video calling, telephonic). The fees are based on an average amount for a Diagnosis-Treatment combination (DBC-in Dutch). Sometimes the invoice covers the costs of an individual patient and sometimes it does not. The NZa has established rules to which the consultations must comply in order to be claimable by the health insurance providers. The Pediatric Practice adheres to these rules. The fees charged by The Pediatric Practice are the same as those charged by a hospital. At The Pediatric Practice you only pay the amount that is reimbursed by your health insurer.

The Pediatric Practice does not give vaccinations to children. The GGD (public health department) in your municipality is responsible for children’s vaccinations. You can find more information (in English) about vaccinations for children here.

The Pediatric Practice provides specialist medical care for children just as is provided in the hospital. A referral letter is always necessary from your general practitioner (huisarts) or youth healthcare physician (jeugdarts) for this type of care. Otherwise, our fees are not reimbursed by your healthcare insurer. The general practitioner is trained to handle your child’s general complaints. The growth and development of your child is monitored by the public health (GGD) youth healthcare physician (jeugdarts). The Pediatric Practice maintains close contact with your general practitioner (huisarts) and youth healthcare doctor (jeugdarts).
